The Retired & Disabled Police of America (RDPOA) is a fraternal organization formed in October, 1990 and incorporated under the laws of the District of Columbia as a non-profit corporation, and is managed by a Board of Directors consisting of a President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, and Executive Director.
We popped in for a new BBQ spot in town, come to find they’ve been here a while just in a little spot. This new spot is fresh, clean and good vibes. Staff take good care of the place and service is really nice. The hidden gem on the menu is the half chicken, smoke is legit. The slaws are on point and nice selection of brews. Fries, Mac and pulled pork all hit the spot. We will be back for sure. IF YOU CAME FOR THE BRISKET YOU FOUND IT!
Today was my first time eating out since starting a diet, and I was honestly nervous… but the smell of this place had been haunting me for hours while walking around downtown SLO. I finally gave in and walked in, and was immediately greeted with a big, genuine smile. I really appreciated the option to order meat à la carte, so I went with half a chicken for about $13. The food came out fast, which was perfect because my kids decided they wanted the Italian place across the way (not exactly diet-friendly). I grabbed an outdoor bench and dug in. The moment I picked up the drumstick, the meat and skin literally fell right off the bone. It came with pickled onions, jalapeño, pickles, and BBQ sauce (I chose spicy — highly recommend). It was the perfect “first meal out” and didn’t feel like a compromise at all. To top it off, the owner came by, remembered my name, and asked how the chicken was. I was a little shy, covered in BBQ sauce with a greasy smile, but I managed to tell him it was awesome. Can’t wait to come back.
We stopped here for breakfast during our vacation, and it ended up being one of the highlights of our trip. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, and every staff member, from the servers to the chef, was so attentive and genuinely friendly. You can tell they really care about what they do. And the food… wow. The BBQ was outstanding…and that’s saying something coming from people who used to live in the South! It’s rare to find a place that nails both great food and great energy, but this spot absolutely does. Highly recommend. Also VERY dog friendly.
I’m so terrible with names but I believe I met a man named Charlie—absolutely incredible service, was so informational about the opening of this spot and the breakfast menu (which I NEED to try now). Plenty of seating, both inside and outside. I feel a bit sad about the food. Taste was good but I had asked for the mac and cheese on the side, I’ve seen the photo of their mac their IG/site, yelp photos, and through here but was given a very standard looking yellow mac n cheese. Yeah, it’s not that serious but also it kind of is when it comes to bbq. I ordered the beef brisket sandwich but it was already slathered with the bbq sauce inside (and still seemed a little dry) and tasted just a bit too sweet. Again, maybe my fault for comparing it to the photos I had seen of the specific order I wanted online. The potato salad is GREAT, highly recommend with your order. I’d come back again tho, very interested in that breakfast menu :^) Ps, the banana pudding was FANTASTIC
Amazing service and incredible food! I love BBQ and it’s good to have a solid option in downtown SLO. I got the Brisket salad and it was fantastic and fresh! Can’t wait to go back for the Brisket sandwich!
