About Oyshi Sushi Southside
The Retired & Disabled Police of America (RDPOA) is a fraternal organization formed in October, 1990 and incorporated under the laws of the District of Columbia as a non-profit corporation, and is managed by a Board of Directors consisting of a President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, and Executive Director.
There sushi is some of the best in town. The tables or booths are spacious. The staff is very friendly and welcoming. They are very attentive and quick. The food is so delcious. The rolls here are unique and well paired. The atmosphere is great! It is perfect for a quiet date night, a business lunch or dinner, or a night out with the family. We highly recommend this place for great food, service, and atmosphere.
We sat down in house when they opened at 5pm on 1/3, and while the waitstaff was slow, we did eventually get to place our order. Very long delay between ordering drinks and edamame and placing our food order. I’m writing this review after 6pm, still not with our food, after finding out two of our sushi rolls are still not ready and I’m having to cancel the other order and have the rest put in to go box because it’s been well over an hour with no food. Disaster. I’ve had enough time to write this full Google review and edit it before getting a check. I’m coming back to edit this after we finally did get the food that had been prepared (just half our order, one Mongolian beef and one James roll, lacking 2 other sushi rolls) and the Mongolian beef serving is so incredibly small I can’t even understand it. It doesn’t even fill up half the serving container it’s in. We’ve had this restaurant before and it was fine to go, but this visit was out of this world awful. Like memorably awful in the entire history of bad restaurant experiences ever had. what the heck happened here other than the waitress just chatting and not turning in our order? OH!!! I also ordered a can of Sapporo and upon opening it just foamed EVERYWHERE. Like huge mess. Was not offered another, had to ask twice for new napkins. Honestly I realize this whole review sounds made up at this point it’s so insanely bad, but it’s true. Incredibly slow and horrible. Wow this is the longest review I’ve ever left on here
I can’t believe we didn’t try this place sooner. Everything my husband and I ordered was SO good. We got Shotgun Shells, Stuffed Avocado, Sushi Sampler bento, Spicy Dianne roll, and chicken Pad Thai. It was absolutely perfect. Our waitress was super sweet and took great care of us. We’ll definitely be back!
We ended up here after walking out of another sushi establishment which did not meet our expectations upon entry. Let's say Oyshi turned around our evening! I started with the salmon sashimi which went down like butter it was so good! My husband started with the calamari which he said was some of the best he had. I normally don't like calamari but the spicy mayo topping tempted me and I like it enough to steal a second piece. I had the Steve McQueen roll and it was amazing! The flavors were diverse and the fish eggs were the perfect finishing touch. I ate the whole roll and ordered another order of shashimi, smoked salmon this time. And again, like butter, it disappeared. My husband had the sesame chicken with fried rice and enjoyed every bite and packed the rest home. Overall, a great sushi place that made the best out of a off starting night. Will definitely return!
We have been 3 different times and they never disappoint. The waitresses are friendly and very helpful when picking out sushi rolls. The first time we got 3 different rolls and some fried rice to share and everything but the steak roll was good. The 2nd time we went we tried the lo mein chicken noodles oh my gosh they were so good excellent flavor. I always get the dumplings and the shotgun shells appetizers when we go. We always try different rolls when go. So if you are in the mood for sushi I recommend going here you won't be disappointed.
