Don Julio - Chicken Soup Taste: 7.6 Freshness: 7.4 Portion Size: 7.6 Texture: 8.2 Plating: 7 Restaurant Appeal: 6.5 Service: 8 Overall 7.47 The broth needs salt, but it does taste fresh and not as oily as some soups, which I love. Can do with some flavor or citrus. They give a side of lime. Decent portion size. The rice sits at the bottom and is soft but still has some firmness. Avacados taste great and are such a profound addition. Chicken is a bit chewy, but does taste like it was cooked the same day and goes great with the veggies (onions, tomatoes, avacado, cilantro, etc). Definitely a refreshing taste, though, I wish there was a tad more chicken and rice as this seems to have too much broth for the ratio of everything else. The chips and salsa were fantastic as well, though, the salsa does have a subtle taste of the infamous canned tomatoes flavor, huge portion of both. Overall, very filling, very refreshing, and the only thing I feel besides full and satisfied is a bit bloated. I do not feel sluggish or tired, which is always a good sign, though the restaurant atmosphere was very dark and bland. Very little light.
First time here and the food was great. We came for Father’s Day, my husband got the trio tacos (probably not the correct name) and he loved his meal. He ate everything on his plate including the rice and beans. I got the steak, shrimp and chicken (with veggies) over rice and cheese sauce. It was really good. We also had a shrimp and steak queso dip that was very flavorful. The place was packed so that’s a good indicator that the food is good! We will be back!
After running some errands in WF, we were riding through the shopping center and the man child was hungry. His first choice closed early for Thanksgiving so we tried something new, Don Julio. The food was great. Son had the quesadillas and I had the Señor Poblano, which was amazing. That, after two bowls of salsa, a bowl and a half of chips and the Chori-queso, he said it was really good and he was full. That's the best compliment a boy mom can hear!!
Don't Julio's has some of the best food. The steak could rival some of these so called fine dining. The ribeye is so tender and delicious.
Excellent, fresh food and terrific service in a very comfortable atmosphere. The entire family loved it and we'll be back. Here's the kids out in front.
