The Retired & Disabled Police of America (RDPOA) is a fraternal organization formed in October, 1990 and incorporated under the laws of the District of Columbia as a non-profit corporation, and is managed by a Board of Directors consisting of a President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, and Executive Director.
There may not be a lot of cars in the parking lot but don’t let that get in the way. It’s set up like a take out restaurant not full service but… The food is out of this world!! It’s fresh, flavorful, affordable, and you get a lot for your money. The chicken is juicy not dry, and the steak is tender. We will definitely make this a staple in our go to restaurants.
This is our weekly routine place. Everything is always fresh made and so tasty. We really enjoyed it.
Finally stopped in. This place has been numerous restaurants throughout the years. Every time I drive by it’s quite busy for lunch and dinner. Plenty of free parking. You walk up to the counter and order and they will bring your food out to you. Really enjoyed our food , with the exception of the salsa that came with the side of chips (not included in meal). The salsa was tasteless. It looked good and had good consistency but both my wife and I felt it was completely tasteless. I noticed another table that didn’t hardly touch their bowl of salsa and left it behind. The main meals were fantastic taste wise. A bit odd that a burrito comes with either a little small side salad or french fries versus your typical rice and beans. But good taste. We would both eat there again just avoid paying for the salsa
We ordered steak tacos, braised beef taco, and a Verde tamale. Everything was okay - the steak (asada) meat was lacking in any flavor, but the tenderness was good. The braised beef had decent flavor. The tamal was good and moist. The sauces though were not the best - I've had better Verde sauces and the red sauce had an odd sweetness to it. The salsa (with the chips and salsa) tasted kind of like the tostitos salsa they sell in grocery stores - the chips and salsa were also extra and not free. Overall, the salsa and sauces didn't taste fresh and had this odd sweetness to it. We asked for waters and the guy working gave us a confused and weird look while walking away - seemed a bit inconsiderate, so we had to order some sodas/drinks in the fridge there.
A GREAT Mexican restaurant in Cary, NC! El Amigo is nothing fancy, just tastefully prepared and spiced food at a reasonable price. I will definitely go back again when in Cary.
