About Abelardo’s Mexican Restaurant
The Retired & Disabled Police of America (RDPOA) is a fraternal organization formed in October, 1990 and incorporated under the laws of the District of Columbia as a non-profit corporation, and is managed by a Board of Directors consisting of a President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, and Executive Director.
We have been coming to this restaurant regularly since around 2022. Today was the best experience we've ever had here. We ordered the combination menu-one chicken fajita and one steak fajita. The seasoning was perfect, and the meat was cooked just right. The server we met today was the most communicative, efficient, friendly, and skilled person we've encountered here! I would like to express my gratitude once again to the lady working during Saturday lunch. I truly hope you continue working at this restaurant for a long time. One thing I didn't like was that all the sauces at the self-serve bar were too watery. It would be great if the sauces could be made thicker. We will definitely come back again, as always.
Our first trip to Abelardo’s won’t be our last! Arturo greeted us with a smile and was very kind and patient with us since it was our first time there. Ordered the Meat Lovers breakfast burrito and Steak omelette; both unbelievably delicious and hot! Then Jiovani came out and explained all their salsas and sauces and gave us recommendations! Gave us chips and pickled veggies too! We also got some churros which were the best we’ve ever had! The restaurant was super clean and inviting! What an amazing experience!
Outstanding breakfast plates! I had the Chorizo plate. This includes chorizo with scrambled eggs eggs, beans, and rice. Very tasty. I also tried the complimentary chips and salsa. Multiple salsas to choose from and all were tasty. I wish the salsas were thicker as they fell off the chips. I had a hot tamale which tasted great, spicy, but appeared to have been microwaved as one side of the tamale was tough. Certainly recommend going here as the other lunch items look great.
I will never eat here again!! (Ive eaten here multiple times before) Me and my partner went around 10pm to grab 3 different meals to share. From the first interaction while ordering I could tell the person taking my order was in a rush. At the time I understood because the line wasn't the shortest. We were the 2nd car in line and ended up waiting almost 30 mins. When I went to grab our food I made sure to double check my order because I could already feel that there would be a problem with my food. The entire interaction at the window felt extremely rushed as well. After going home we checked our food only to find instead of a quesadilla I had an enchilada instead. After the wait and customer service, I was pretty upset and had my partner call to see if someone could run it out since the line when we left was around the building. My partner speaks Spanish and did his best to resolve it, but she wasn't understanding and hung up. They went to grab it anyway, hoping it would be ready, but told me they had to park two different times to be noticed and put their flashers on, even after calling a second time! When they got home, this is what I was given. It's completely soggy in grease to the point that my hands were completely covered. You can see the bottom of the to go box is soaked in it. Horrible experience. Horrible customer service.
Some of the rice and bean portions on their combo meals are no bigger than a half cup if you're lucky.... Service is pretty good time waiting in the Drive-Thru isn't bad compared to Taco Bell or McDonald's late at night
