Never again stepping a foot in this store , twice i felt racial profiled! First time when my daughter had taken her own little key chain plushy. I felt watched by the associates i had asked my daughter to tell the associate it was her own plushy. Crazy for a 8 year to experience something like that just b/c our color of our skin. 2nd time when picking up an online order. Rude associate comes up and ask if there was an issue i brushed it of n i responded nicely when she gave the cashier the order i asked the associate if that was it? (Keep in mind a family member ordered it n was asked to pick it up). Rudely responded it was the only bag with the order number. I had told her it was a pick up that a family member placed. No need to be rude wat so ever! Not the first racial review i see on here! Do better!
Responding to owner reply: To clarify, when I visited with my teenage daughters, they were not putting plushies in their hoodies, everything was visibly carried in their arms. It was a party of 3, two teen girls and me. You could be confusing me with a different party. Additionally, when my order was picked up, my mother was with my adult sister, with no children present. I’m extremely disappointed with my experiences at The Quill in Pacific Grove. I ordered two items online for pickup and called the day before to let them know my mom would be picking them up for me. (I live out of state) I was told this was fine, and they even wrote down her name. When my mom arrived for pickup, she was given a hard time and treated rudely. One staff member, in particular, was hostile and unprofessional for no valid reason. This unfortunately wasn’t an isolated incident. On a previous visit, I came in with my daughters to shop for Jellycats. (We were visiting family during Thanksgiving) While they were deciding which ones to choose, staff repeatedly watched us in a way that made me feel extremely uncomfortable, like we were being suspected of doing something wrong. It genuinely felt like racial profiling. My daughters couldn’t decide on which ones to purchase. So I decided to purchase all the Jellycats my daughters were holding, about $300 worth and headed downstairs to check out. The same employee my mom later described was talking casually with another staff member, but the moment she saw us walking downstairs with the items, she stopped talking. Then her tone immediately changed once she realized we were buying all of the ones my daughters had on hand. No customer should feel scrutinized, judged, or treated with hostility. This was upsetting and unacceptable, and I will not be returning.
An absolutely delightful place for a special card or gift. Mostly a stationary and card shop but they offer very beautiful high-end tchotchkes and gift items that are useful and unique. Very nice staff and fun place to visit.
Cute but comprehensive stationary store with lots of nice gifts. We stayed in town until it opened to get some cute thank you cards.
The Quill has turned into my go-to stop to find a lovely gifts whether it is a hostess gift or a birthday present. The store is full of beautiful collections ranging from the Nest New York to Rifle Paper Co. There is even a section that displays cards made by local artists of local scenery. The very nice ladies at the counter could tell my arms were getting full and took the items from my arms to behind the counter so I could keep shopping in comfort. They also informed me that we can make appointments for custom birthday party invites. Truly a one-stop-shop for all types of parties and events!
